FINGER Brain Health and Dementia Prevention Clinic Now Open
The FINGER Brain Health and Dementia Prevention Clinic is open at LiveWell’s Resilient Living Center in Plantsville, Connecticut. Led by the Yale School of Nursing in partnership with LiveWell, this brain health clinic offers adults and families practical, personalized ways to protect cognitive health and reduce dementia risk.
What Is the FINGER Brain Health and Dementia Prevention Clinic?
The clinic is a FINGER-based cognitive wellness clinic focused on brain health promotion and dementia prevention. It applies the multidomain lifestyle approach behind FINGER, the Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability, to brain health care for people in Connecticut.
The FINGER Approach to Brain Health
FINGER-based care treats brain health as a whole. Instead of relying on a single habit, it combines several lifestyle areas that work together to support cognitive health and help slow cognitive decline:
- Exercise: regular physical activity
- Nutrition: eating in ways that support the brain and the heart
- Cognitive training: keeping the mind active and engaged
- Vascular health management: looking after heart and blood vessel health, which supports the brain
