Thriving with Parkinson’s Series

at LiveWell’s Resilient Living Center

 

The Thriving with Parkinson’s Series is offered at no cost thanks to sponsorship by the Harte of Zwick funding developed to support people living with Parkinson’s disease and other dementias.

The 2 courses in the series are designed for people living with Parkinson’s disease to encourage a proactive approach to overall health and wellbeing. Courses are facilitated by LiveWell faculty including a Physical Therapist, Personal Trainer and Music Therapist. Choose the courses that will meet your goals or make an afternoon of it and take both!

In these small group courses you will engage in activities that will promote your ability to:

  • Maintain Vocal Strength and Volume
  • Improve effective communication with others
  • Build connections with peers
  • Increase strength and balance

loud for life

LSVT Loud for Life

Tuesdays| 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Participants of this course must have completed all 16 therapy sessions of the full LSVT LOUD® treatment program.

This follow-up course will focus on ensuring your grander voice is brought into real world engaging conversations by incorporating cognitive activities and conversation around fun activities and hobbies including music, current events and more all while maintaining those exercises learned throughout the LSVT LOUD protocol.

Movement clinic

Tuesdays | 1:00pm – 2:00pm

This small group of no more than 4 participants will draw from established research evidence to develop exercise routines that improve your ability to perform daily functional activities safely and more efficiently. The instructor will consider the specific interests and abilities of each individual to make the classes meaningful and relevant to each participant. 

Loud & Clear Neuro Choir

Tuesdays | 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Participants will have the opportunity to collectively name and co-design this Choir with a certified Music Therapist.

This offering is designed for people living with Parkinson’s disease to build vocal strength, volume, and diction. It is open to anyone who would like to participate, making it a great activity for couples or family and friends to do together.
